In line with the Sustainable Development Goal to promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work, the Impact Catalyst’s Enterprise Supplier Development (ESD), Manufacturing, and Localisation function intend to use its capabilities to work with host communities in unlocking new market sectors to stimulate local economies.
As a catalyst for impactful programmes that contribute to the socio-economic upliftment of communities, the organization, through this function, facilitates manufacturing programmes which promote, train, and support small and medium enterprises in their journey towards becoming contributors of localization.
The department is equally committed to driving strategic initiatives in ESD to develop manufacturing and production-oriented entities in local host communities that will influence and promote procurement of South African manufactured goods and services
We leverage public and private partnerships to unlock new market sectors, stimulate local economies, and empower small and medium enterprises to become key contributors to localisation and sustainable economic growth
The Impact Catalyst, in collaboration with its partners, is driving localisation and manufacturing through the establishment of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) manufacturing facilities in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and the Northern Cape. Currently, these provinces lack local PPE manufacturing facilities, with the industry dominated by re-sellers and distributors.
The ESD Intelligence and Insights Tool is an interactive platform designed to empower ESD and inclusive procurement departments with a central repository of intelligence and insights. It enables the planning of impactful strategies and implementation plans for enterprise and supplier development while promoting inclusive procurement.
