Mining establishments frequently face the risk of downsizing or cessation. Consequently, it is increasingly crucial for communities reliant on mining for their socio-economic well-being to explore diversification in local economies. This proactive approach enables them to sustain themselves and generate employment long after mining operations cease.
In response, the Impact Catalyst’s Agriculture and Bio-Beneficiation Department’s strategy focuses on creating a robust agricultural and livestock economy that empowers emerging farmers, contributes to food security and an optimised supply chain.
Leveraging strategic pillars- consolidation, replication, scaling and innovation, the Impact Catalyst through its agriculture and bio-beneficiation capability aims to develop agricultural and livestock projects which are feasible, scalable, replicable and sustainable.
With operations in the Northern Cape, North West, Limpopo and soon Mpumalanga, the Agriculture and Bio-Beneficiation Department priorities a tailor-made approach for each region to ensure that collaborative impact can bring to fruition our aim of maximising value from agricultural production.
We prioritise scalable projects that engage local communities through stakeholder participation and fostering collaborative structures to co-create initiatives. The Zebediela Master Plan and Irrigation Project is a fine example of how we support community-held assets to formulate a roadmap for their development where they co-create implementation plans with industry-leading experts
